Excavator Stuck Again - Link Belt 3400 Quantum
Well I say "again" but I guess this is the first time, and hopefully the last time, that I stuck this machine myself.
The story goes, I was making really good progress, and somewhat had my sights set on a goal of making the south property line. Problem is, I was getting into wetter and wetter material. As I advanced the mats again, I got nervous and decided to get out of it. But it was too late. As i started to head back out to the landing, my mats sunk on one side, and since they were covered in slick slimy clay, I ended up sliding off the low side. I tried everything I could imagine to get it up and out, but the more I worked the more it sank.
My hope was to just let it sit for a while for things to dry out but then became aware of significant rain in the forecast (tropical storm Bill no less) and got to thinking about that water all sitting in around my seals and bearings. Out she comes!
Yes, David took the whole paycheck and I'm sure went to the house to put his feet up before this weather sets in. I'm taking this one as my freebie. If I ever plant it again I'll really have to hang my head!
