TrashBot is a smart recycling bin which uses AI, robotics, computer vision, and machine learning to sort waste at the point of disposal with 95% accuracy. Developed by recycling tech startup CleanRobotics, its recycling technology sorts the item into the corresponding bin within, reducing contamination and recovering more circular materials.
The National Aviary in Pittsburgh, with a grant from the Posner Foundation, has partnered with CleanRobotics to implement TrashBot at its facility as part of a food waste reduction education program. The Aviary will use TrashBot to help guests learn about food waste and its detrimental effects on birds and their ecosystems.
