Many of us read the English translation of Shabads we hear but we still aren’t able to understand it’s meaning and feel that connection with the Lord.
But why isn’t just reading the English translation of Shabads enough?
-Theres something missing ....
Think of it this way:
If you are given a scientific research article that’s written in English and you have whatsoever no background knowledge about the terminologies or the scientific language used in that paper, will you be able to understand it ? No, you wouldn’t. However, will you able to read it ? Yes, because you know English.
This is exactly what is happening with us when we read Gurbani. We understand how to read the Gurmukhi and it’s English translation but we do not understand the language of our Guru.
What is the language of our Guru? - LOVE
💕
But how do you fall in love with your Guru if you haven’t even made the slightest effort to get to know him ? How will anything that he saying matter if Guru Sahib is a complete stranger to you?
As human beings we tend to listen and appreciate the opinions and words of people that we love. And we fall in love when we spend time with those people and get to know them.
This is why it is really important to get to know your Guru through Sikh history. It is important to know what their life was like, what their character was like and why they spoke the Baani that they did.
You can join us to learn about Sikh history this weekend on Dec 25, 26, 27 online in a fun and quick way! - Register at GGSSC.CA
But if you cannot we still encourage you to read Sikh history and then read Gurbani with meaning and see how things start to make a lot more sense😊🙏.
