The Supreme Court said that Anil Masih, returning officer in Chandigarh Mayor election, has to be prosecuted as he was interfering with the election process. Anil Masih, Returning officer (RO), has admitted to tampering with ballots. CJI DY Chandrachud ordered RO Anil Masih to show ballot papers on February 20. The top court has directed the administration to provide security to judicial officer to ensure safety of officer and records. The SC said that the court would take a call whether fresh polls be conducted or result be declared on basis of votes casted. The Apex Court said it is 'concerned about horse trading.'The top court was hearing a case involving the defeat of AAP-Congress candidate Kuldeep Kumar after eight votes were controversially declared invalid.
