Finally done with this guy. Great music, gives me GoT vibes.
In phase 1, I always begin with a combo. Then I bait out attacks you can punish AND have enough time to walk back a little, to avoid the CameraBoss from coming into play. When you land an attack on him in phases 1 and 2, he tends to respond with moves that are easy to dodge. So as long as he doesn't step back, keep the dodge-hit-walk back cycle going. I walk away because the most BS move he can do at phase 1 is walk forward. Yes - walk. He can damage you by accidentally kneeing you to the face when he takes two steps forward, so creating that extra space allows me to keep moving back or dodge.
The first phase is easy because he has a tendency to back off. Third phase is also somewhat easy because of his limited moveset. The 2nd phase is where all sorts of BS kicks in.
WHEN he does end up with enough space in phase 2, it opens up his moveset. Biggest BS of them all is when he walks 2 steps towards me and does his thin-hand stomp that produces fire. He just covers so much space when he walks and he stomps so fast, plus that AoE fire. I have no answer for it, but the best I could do is keep my distance and pray to RNGesus he doesn't keep walking before I lose space (4:04). Next worst thing he could do is the delayed jump/lunge, because they look so similar. What I do is dodge to the side once, and if he jumps, I do another jump forward, after a little delay. Many of his long-mid range moves can be dodged to his beast-hand side, but just because I end up behind him doesn't mean I can wail on him. Whichever side I end up in, I watch out for his quick side-swipes. I often rather dodge back pre-emptively before he does anything instead of hitting him (2:00, 2:45), plus if he does his backward stumble, he's open for a couple hits. Lastly, when he gets near that 1/3 mark, I tend to wait for when he's in the middle of the room and hit from his sides, to avoid being smashed on his transition to phase 3. CameraBoss comes into play when Laurence doesn't have space.
Phase 3 is simple, stay moving towards his weak arm. He has 3 moves that start out the same - he can either do a quick hand stomp followed by lava poop (5:01), or stretch his beast arm all the way up and drop it down, or he can swipe. The quick hand stomp starts with his beast arm in front of his face. For the other two, a pretty good tell is his weak arm - if he extends that, it means he's stretching his beast arm (4:54), so time the delay and dodge to the left AND immediately create distance so his follow up swipe whiffs, or is easier to dodge. Lastly, when he stops crawling after the third stomp, I just walk back for an easy dodge (4:32).
