For decades, graphite has been the dominant anode material in lithium-ion batteries, but it has limitations in terms of energy density and charging speed. That’s why many researchers and companies are looking for alternatives that can offer more capacity and faster charging for EVs. One of the most promising candidates is silicon, a material that can store 10 times more lithium ions than graphite, and thus boost the battery’s energy density. Now, some innovative companies have developed novel ways to incorporate silicon into the anode. One of these companies, OneD has now partnered with major carmakers and battery manufacturers to bring their silicon anode batteries to the market, and to the roads.
