If you wear orthotics or insoles, don't wear shoes that could eliminate the benefits... or make things even worse.

What kinds of shoes do that?

Simple anything that interferes with the geometry of the orthotic. For example, heel lift, "toe spring," built-in arch support, too-stiff soles.

Ideally, you want a shoe that doesn't get in the way of what the orthotic is trying to do.
