Each of us has something powerful to say; yet, for whatever reason, we often hold back. Former opera singer Allison Shapira uses music to explain how we can find our voice and our courage to speak up. When we do that, we inspire others and ourselves.
Allison Shapira is the president of Global Public Speaking, a company that helps people overcome their fear of public speaking to give powerful and authentic speeches and presentations. She teaches at Georgetown University and works with governments, nonprofits, and businesses. She lives in Washington, DC and works and performs around the world.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
