A woman is most fertile for 6 days out of each month - 5 days leading up to ovulation, and on the day of ovulation when her body releases an egg that can then be fertilized by sperm. Ovulation usually happens about mid-cycle, or 12-16 days before her next period is going to begin. And those 5 days leading up to ovulation are fertile days because sperm can live inside a woman's reproductive system for 3-5 days. So a lot of people want to know when is your chance greatest. Anytime you have unprotected intercourse during the most fertile window, pregnancy is always a possibility. But if you're trying to have a baby, it's helpful to know that you're most fertile on the day or 2 (days) leading up to ovulation. For example, on these days, your chances of getting pregnant are 25%-30%, but on the 5th, 4th, and 3rd day leading up to ovulation, and on the day of ovulation, your chances are about 5%-10%.
So if you want to time things just right, but you don't want to think much about it, just try having intercourse every other day, starting on the day your period ends, and continue with this for about 7-14 days, depending on how long your cycles are. So the longer your cycle, the longer you should continue with this, and that should help you time things just right around the time of ovulation. And of course if you're doing it every other day, then it should hit on the day before or the second day before leading up to ovulation, and hopefully help you achieve the dreams of having a baby.
