Here's a quick video describing a method to attach an inexpensive 6" LED selfie ring light to an older stereo microscope.
The 6" LED ring light was purchased from Amazon for less than $7, which fit the size of this microscope very well.
The old microscope is a Swift Stereo 80 microscope purchased on eBay.
The adapter was fashioned from a piece of scrap aluminum sheet, any sheet metal would work, it just has to be strong enough to hold the weight of the LED light.
The result produces very full illumination of the subject without shadows, perfect for tiny soldering tasks. The LED light has a dimmer and color-temperature function, which is also very nice.
Enjoy!
