Employers are finally figuring it out - unpaid internships are bad for business. Excluding top talent, inviting expensive lawsuits and killing diversity are among the reasons why employers across the globe are realizing that their interns should be paid. In this TEDx talk, Claire Seaborn from the Global Intern Coalition shares the latest trends on interns' rights and the global movement defending them. Claire Seaborn is a lawyer and social justice advocate based in Toronto. As an associate at McCarthy Tétrault LLP, Claire’s practice is focused on commercial, public law and regulatory litigation. Over the past six years, Claire has been a champion for the rights of unpaid interns in Canada, at the United Nations and around the world. Claire is a founder of the Canadian Intern Association and the Global Intern Coalition, organizations that aim to improve workplace rights for interns and end the cycle of privilege that allows unpaid internships to persist across numerous professions and industries. Claire has frequently appeared and been cited in national and international media discussing interns’ rights, including for the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, CTV, CBC, Canadian Press, Radio France, MacLean’s and Huffington Post. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
