I discovered ancient marine fossils in an area known as West Meadows which is right around the corner from the Melbourne Airport. Their presence describes a fascinating time in Victoria's history, when an ancient ocean existed in the now terrestrial land. This ancient sea was a shallow one, and along with primitive bivalves and gastropods were carbonate rocks, which further solidify the fact that this region was once dominated by the salty waves of the paleo-pacific ocean.
