Sudden Sensory Hearing Loss and Administration of Rocephin IV | My Story | Marlo Keenan
Hello, this video was a long time coming. I recorded it in 2017 during my onset of my Sudden Sensory Hearing Loss (SSHL). It took me a very long time, apparently, to decide if I wanted to post this video. I was scared, nervous, even embarrassed to share this with my viewers. I am an extremely private person and I just did not know how to share my experience. I am happy now that I have gained the courage to express myself and bring you into one of the most emotionally painful experiences of my life.
My intentions for this video is not for people to feel sorry for me, but to help and provide information and hope to others that have suffered from SSHL. This is defined as an unexplained, rapid loss of hearing either all at once or over a few days. SSHL happens because there is something wrong with the sensory organs of the inner ear. For me, I have a total loss of clarity hearing (speech) in my left ear.
During this video, I will discuss in detail what happened, what my specialist found, and my treatment. I will also demonstrate the treatment as there are so many who have had to endured having a Picc Line. This demonstration will assist others in how to exactly administer the medication and it will provide a sense of understanding the process. It looks scary but it’s not too bad. The worst part is just emotionally accepting that this is your life for almost a month. If it was not for my support system and God, I just do not know how I would have gotten through this time.
I appreciate and love dearly all those who were there for me during this time. I have the most amazing friends and I could not be more blessed to have them in my life. Thank you for all your love and support.
