Born & raised in Los Angeles, he signed with local independent label #TopDawgEntertainment {#TDE in 2005. He secured a major label joint venture deal with #WarnerBrosRecords & #AsylumRecords to release his 2008 debut single, #AllMyLife {In the Ghetto.. ft: #LilWayne & #WillIAm}. Failing to chart, the mergers fell through & #JayRock departed from both of the latter labels shortly after. He then signed with Missouri rapper #TechN9ne's label #StrangeMusic in a joint venture deal with #TDE in 2011. Preceded by 10 mixtapes for #TDE, #Rock's long-delayed debut studio album; #FollowMeHome {2011}, was released to moderate commercial reception & critical praise. It was supported by the aforementioned single, as well as "#HoodGoneLoveIt" {ft: #KendrickLamar}. He departed #StrangeMusic in 2014 & released his 2nd album, #90059 {2015} the following year. He once more signed a joint venture with #Interscope to release his 3rd album #Redemption {2018}, which was met with critical acclaim & peaked at number 13 on the ''Billboard 200''.
