An arch is the curved structure that spans an opening or supports weight, such as an arch bridge or archway. Arches are designed to effectively support vertical loads.
The main elements of an arch include the voussoir, keystone, extrados, intrados, springer, and rise. There are several types of arches like the flat arch, french arch, triangular arch, corbel arch, round arch, roman arch, segmental arch, and stilted arch. Other types of arches also include the trefoil arch, basket-handle arch, equilateral arch, lancet arch, rampant arch, horseshoe arch, and drop arch.
