Infections can occur almost anywhere in the body. Here is an example of an abscess that formed around the ankle joint of this 30 year old patient. Thankfully it was superficial and didn’t extend into the patient’s ankle joint. We were able to drain the abscess, treat with IV antibiotics for 72 hours and then close the incision back up and the patient returned home fine.
