Kanye West met Thursday with Donald Trump, telling the President in an Oval Office meeting before reporters why he supports the Republican. Jim Brown also met with Ye and Trump. West was invited to the White House to have lunch with the president, former NFL star Jim Brown, and the president's son-in-law and top adviser Jared Kushner to discuss manufacturing, prison reform and gang violence with the help in inner cities like Chicago.
This is Kanye West’s big day, as he heads to Washington, D.C., to meet with Donald Trump and Jared Kushner at the White House. According to reports, West is set to have lunch with Trump and then witness the signing of a new bill, the Music Modernization Act, updating how artists are paid royalties through streaming services. (Streaming-service payments have been a concern of West’s onetime rival Taylor Swift in the past; read into that what you will.) Kid Rock was also seen arriving at the White House Thursday morning.
This will be the second time this MAGA love affair has materialized; the two also met in December 2016, shortly after Trump was elected, and followed their meeting at Trump Tower with a photo-op in the building’s lobby.
According to West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, West has a few talking points ready for his meeting on Thursday. She told E!: “He wants to talk about building local factories for his clothes and shoes and getting formerly incarcerated men and women to work at the factories. I know that’s really important to him."
