Firefighters battle to quell flames engulfing buildings after three blasts detonate near Kurdish military stations in Kirkuk killing more than 10 people
Kurdish officials and residents said on Saturday that three explosions tore through a residential neighbourhood in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, killing at least 10 people.
Officials with Kurdish fighting units said dozens were injured in the blasts, which detonated near buildings used as lookout points.
Residents said the explosions were about 656 feet apart.
One building appeared to be partially collapsed, while firefighters battle to quell flames engulfing another structure.
Local people and emergency crews scrambled to help the injured and remove bodies.
Officials say many displaced Iraqis live near the area targeted in the blasts.
At least one family appeared trapped on the roof of one of the burning buildings screaming and waving for help.
