This is a quick DIY on how to remove the front crank seal from an e39 m5. This method can be applied to many other BMW’s. I found that there is no need to purchase expensive removal tools. All you need is a flat head screwdriver and a mallet.
I did not show this but for installation of the new crank seal, I bought a 2 1/4 inch pvc adapter fitting and used the mallet to evenly press in the new crank seal.
