Black Voices Matter is a year-long conversation series that amplifies Black influencers with varied perspectives and platforms. By including individuals who represent the spectrum of all Black lives, we aim to create HIV awareness in spaces where it has previously been ignored or misunderstood.
In this episode of Black Voices Matter, Black AIDS Institute President and CEO Raniyah Copeland speaks with Native Son's Emil Wilbekin about challenges facing the movement to end HIV/AIDS. They discuss trauma, internalized and externalized, Wilbekin's own story of coming out as gender non-confirming, and his journey with disclosing his HIV positive status. They also speak on ways to practice self care in this time of COVID.
