Director duo Greg and Colin Strause of the Skyline franchise are the same guys who held the reigns for Alien vs. Predator Requiem. After Requiem tanked at the box office, the Brothers Strause sort of blamed it on the executives, but no one was willing to take it, not even the loyal fans of the AVP franchise, let alone critics. So, these duos decided to make another film to prove themselves and their mettle, and that’s how the Skyline franchise took birth in 2010. The franchise is known for its outrageous yet ambitious depiction of an invasion by the creators of humans themselves. There are three films in the franchise, and each goes a step further than the previous one in terms of pronounced sci-fi elements and outstanding visual effects. Interestingly enough, the physical production of the first film cost only $500,000, but the total budget stood at $10–20 million with the visual effects, so that should give you an idea about how precise and thrilling the sequences might be. The second chapter of the franchise, titled Beyond Skyline, was released in 2017, and it gave the film a martial arts sci-fi essence, which felt like a breath of fresh air. In this video, we will explore the Skyline Franchise and its Harvester Aliens and discuss how and why they are in dire need of harvesting human brains. Get ready for a lot of moments where you’d say to yourself, “I can’t believe that just happened!” Let’s jump in, shall we?
