Kirk and Sam break down everything you need to know when it comes to a Tesla LSD Swap/Install as they prepare a SPORT DRIVE LDU for installation into the AEM EV/TurnKey Industries Drift Camaro!** Follow along for some tips when opening a Tesla Large Drive Unit case.
**NOTE: We are aware that you can remove the inverter canister and unplug the thermistor harness that runs from the inverter to the motor (which may be a safer option for some who perform this installation), but we prefer to keep the inverter canister on to protect the electronics from damage during this process. In a future video, we will remove the inverter canister, and unplug the thermistor harness, so that anyone wishing to do so will have an understanding of this procedure.
Up next is swapping the Sport Drive's Tesla Inverter Control Board to an AEM EV Inverter Control Board (ICB), and then putting the LDU back into the cradle and installing it for some tire-shredding fun at the Holley High Voltage event in Sonoma on July 9-10! Stay tuned.
