Automated quality inspection at SCHOTT, an innovative enabler for industrial glass production.
“Here in the laboratory, we are testing the glass physical features for quality control.”
During the optical measurement, the laboratory staff used to manually insert the glass samples into a measuring device called spectrometer, resulting in a monotonous measurement process which is rather stressful for their employees. As the number of samples coming into laboratory have increased during recent years, SCHOTT had to find an innovative solution to maintain their quality standards and efficiency levels within the same room capacity and the same number of staff and measurement devices. Therefore, they turned to OnRobot’s Collaborative Application, the RG2-FT Gripper with in-built force torque and proximity sensor for accurate sensing in their delicate pick-and-place glass process.
