California has been hit by a series of powerful storms delivering two winters' worth of snow to the Sierra Nevada mountains. The snowfall has caused nine to ten foot berms alongside roads, effectively trapping thousands of residents in their homes. Despite the challenges, the storms have brought much-needed moisture to the parched region, erasing much of California's long-running drought in just six months. However, with two new atmospheric rivers expected to hit the area in the next 10 days, bringing more rain or snow and the risk of flooding, the recovery will be a long road.
