It's fair to say that the Ancient Romans had a pretty close and personal relationship with urine as a cleaning agent. They used it to tan leather, wash clothes, and even brush their teeth Ancient laundries used to collect urine in these giant clay pots they placed out on the street for people to pee in. They used so much urine that Roman emperor Vespasian imposed a urine tax. That's right. A tax on pee.
