The single follows Bujold’s previous single, Ever Coming Back, released in June. Showcasing Bujold’s more gritty, heavy-hitting musical and lyrical chops, Heart Thief is a song about going after what you want.
“The song encapsulates that type of person who unapologetically goes after what they want and gets it nearly every time. Sometimes this character is seen as the bad guy, or we experience resentment and jealousy towards them, but we can also be a Heart Thief in our own ways and be damn proud of it, too,” says Bujold.
“It makes you feel like a badass when you listen to it and feel capable of anything. At least, that’s what I experience when I sing and play it with The Milestones. I hope this song will motivate people to tune into what their heart desires most and go after it.”
The Heart Thief music video sees Bujold portraying an exaggerated version of the “Heart Thief.” It lightens the song's mood by featuring hilarious characters and stunts enacted by Bujold and his band, the Milestones.
“I felt inspired one night at my kitchen counter and wrote the entire storyline and shot list for this music video in two hours of non-stop typing. I was so proud of it that I immediately knew it would be my best music video yet,” says Bujold. “When I pitched it to Dan Selesse (Videographer at DStudios), he was blown away by the detail and thought I put into it.”
Originally from Fall River, Nova Scotia, Bujold recently returned to his Acadian roots in Restigouche County, New Brunswick, which he now calls home.
“The Heart Thief single and music video completes our Pre-EP Release Trilogy, and we couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out… It’s such a rockin’ fun song to play live and the music video was a blast to film, too!”
Lyrics: written by Max Bujold
Well I don’t mind
If you get my name wrong
When the morning starts breaking
You’ll be singing along
Cuz I know how to rock ya
And I know how to roll
With the punches you’re throwing
When you’re taking control
They call me the heart thief, ‘cause I don't miss a beat,
With the tunes you’re playing
On my heart strings, you gon’ make em’ sing,
Like a ring of fire
Like a ramblin man who only gives a damn,
About pure desire
Let’s feed the fire, take a stand
I dare you honey to take my hand
Well your daddy might shoot me
And your momma might cry
So don’t bring me home girl
At least not tonight
The places Imma take ya
Make you feel alright
They’ll say you’ve been stolen
By a thief in the night
They call me the heart thief, ‘causeI don't miss a beat,
With the tunes you’re playing
On my heart strings, you gon’ make em’ sing,
Like a ring of fire
Like a ramblin man who only gives a damn,
About pure desire
Let’s feed the fire, take a stand
I dare you honey to take my hand
They call me the heart thief, ‘cause I don't miss a beat,
With the tunes you’re playing
On my heart strings, you gon’ make em sing,
Like a ring of fire
Like a ramblin man who only gives a damn,
About pure desire
Let’s feed the fire, take a stand
I dare you honey to take my hand
