Welcome to the Jewel and have it all to yourself with no one around!
I am sure you’ve seen dozens of videos of The Jewel but here’s your chance to see it with no one around.
I explored the Jewel late one night, way past midnight. While the airport is open 24/7, the shops within are not. There is a special calmness that you experience when all alone in a usually crowded and popular place. This is as “after-hours” as it gets in an airport that never sleeps.
The JEWEL is a retail and entertainment venue that sits between Terminals 1, 2 and 3 of the world-class Changi International Airport. It is famous for the RAIN VORTEX, the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, with its surrounding terraces that are enclosed in a massive geodesic dome.
A monorail traverses this dome with a typical futuristic flair that reminds me of a scene from the science fiction classic, LOGAN’s RUN.
I started from the basement and made my way up, walking amidst the shops in an overall circular manner around the massive dome, and going upwards gradually until I reached the topmost level of CANOPY PARK with bars and drinking establishments.
