Shine A Light on Antisemitism – TM Garret
Amid a widespread rise in antisemitism in North America, today is the fourth day of the national campaign Shine A Light on Antisemitism. In Memphis, we are sharing eight videos of Memphians who have experienced antisemitism and/or stood up against it, galvanizing broad Memphis support for a solidarity statement against antisemitism and promoting a social media campaign during this week of Hanukkah.
Our fourth video features TM Garret, a former neo-Nazi and Ku Klux Klan leader who is now a Memphis-based anti-hate activist.
Table Talk-Video Discussion Questions
• What can we learn about antisemitism from Mr. Garret’s experiences?
• What was the trigger for Mr. Garret’s radical transformation and his becoming an upstander?
• Change can be excruciatingly difficult. What does it take to undergo a major transformation in one’s life? Do you know anyone who has made life changes on the scale of Mr. Garret’s?
