The NTSB has released the investigation docket for the B-17 Flying Fortress "Nine o Nine" crash which occurred on Oct. 2, 2019, at Bradley Airport in Connecticut. The Living History flight was managed by the Collings Foundation and the plane was piloted by Ernest "Mac" McCauley. Unfortunately, 7 people aboard were killed, including Mac and the co-pilot. 6 people survived.
The B-17 just after takeoff, experienced trouble in engine #4, and then while returning to the runway, lost engine #3. The plane hit some landing lights on the field and impacted the ground and veered into a deicing station, and then burst into flames.
