After years of being told to flat-iron her hair, Sacha Antonetty-Lebrón decided to embrace her roots and go natural. Antonetty-Lebrón says it's part of a growing movement in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean of Black women who want to show love for their African ancestry.
Despite many anti-Black attitudes in Latin America, Antonetty-Lebrón has created a magazine called Revista etnica to showcase Black models, writers and issues. While some Afro-Latinos may not embrace being called "Black," Antonetty-Lebrón wants people to know she is unapologetically Black in every way. Natasha Alford (@NatashaSAlford) reports from Puerto Rico.
