Biodiversity Implementation Meeting Underway in Nairobi

The fourth meeting of the Convention on Biological Diversity’s Subsidiary Body on Implementation is underway in Nairobi. Building on progress from last week’s SBSTTA-26 session, which included work on the Monitoring Framework and Global Action Plan on biodiversity and health, participants aim to finalize recommendations for COP16 in Cali, Colombia. This first post-Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) meeting stresses the importance of implementation, with countries updating National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans. UNEP, in partnership with UNDP and the Global Environment Facility, supports these efforts. Discussions focus on resource mobilization, national reporting templates, and technical cooperation to meet GBF goals by 2030.
