There has supposedly never been a flat-10 engine in world history, and I've always wondered why. So I decided to build a few different variants to see how they would turn out.

This is the first of twelve different flat-10 engine designs I devised, and has my favorite sound out of all of them. This is a boxer engine, meaning that the ten-cylinder crank pin arrangement has opposing cylinders moving in and out in tandem. I call this five-cylinder crankshaft pin arrangement "type-D" after "dextro" (right-handed), a convention I came up with when working with crossplane V8s, but that's kind of silly so I might come up with something else later. It also maybe stands for Dodge because it's the conventional V10 crank pin order.

For testing purposes, this is put into a car with approximately the same weight and gearing as a Ferrari 458.
