Here's a quick demo of the Curtis Novak bisonic pickup. The bass is a 1965 Guyatone EB-4 bass. Strings are D'Addario Chromes. This demo was recorded with the bass going directly into the mixer and recording setup, with no bass amp or preamp in-between. Since the focus of this clip is the tone of the bass and not my bass playing technique, please disregard the sloppy noodling. It was recorded in one take, late at night, with little to no planning, and all after a few glasses of good ol' Elijah Craig... so... you know.
Anyway, I would like to draw attention to one thing: notice the awesome sensitivity of the pickup and how the tone changes considerably during the first little Rage Against the Machine riff (right around the 18second mark), when I shift my right hand position from directly above the pole pieces, farther up toward the neck heel
