Testing a 7s 20A BMS by shorting a pack. Did not consider that a 20A BMS would actually not trigger protection until 60A! This resulted in a cell being internally shorted, and heating up. I contained the damage by dunking the cell in a mug of ice water and letting it cool off for an hour or so, then draining the cell overnight across a 50 ohm load (again under water in a fireproof container).
