Here’s a video interview of Lola, an 85-year old local in Batanes demonstrating how a 𝙫𝙖𝙠𝙪𝙡 is made. I learned from her that it takes a week to finish one piece of 𝙫𝙖𝙠𝙪𝙡.
A 𝙫𝙖𝙠𝙪𝙡 is a headdress used by the women in Batanes to protect them from the sun or rain. It is their local raincoat or umbrella. The 𝙫𝙖𝙠𝙪𝙡 is made from fibers of a local palm tree called vuyavuy.
