Taking a look at my Methley Japanese Plum, that has been growing in my orchard for 6 years.

It is part of my 200+ fruiting plants in my 7 year old permaculture food forest.

it has been pruned to an open center system so the fruit can easily be reached from the ground.

I have had no pest or disease when many other related plants have.
