This is not a How To video. And yes, you should wear shoes, especially when working with old pallets, nails could be rusty!
For this Surfboard Rack, I used half of a wooden pallet as a base and cut a couple 2x4s for the back support. Then, drilled holes in the back 2x4 to insert dowels that were used as support arms for the surfboards. I used all deck screws on this board rack. The back 2x4 that supports the surfboards stands about 4 feet tall off of the pallet base.
This homemade board rack only took a few hours and 1 trip to the hardware store. I did have most the materials already. For my next board rack I think I will add dowels to the end of the back support. Also, one thing to consider if you are making your own, is to find a way for the back support to be set back further from the base. This way the boards do not have to stand up so vertical. I also have a paracord tied to a carabiner that I use to secure the boards to the back support.
