A giant, very west swell slammed Hawaii this weekend. Pipe was mostly wash-throughs with a few very hectic diamonds in the rough — especially peaky given the direction of the swell. This morning, as Director of Forecasting Kevin Wallis explains, “the big west swell from the weekend is on the way down, but it continues to provide solid surf on the North Shore this morning. We’ll see a gradual decrease in surf today ahead of the next WNW swell on Tuesday. Wind will be best early this morning, light to moderate from the SSE. We’ll look for wind to trend S-SSW through the middle part of the morning for gradually deteriorating conditions.”
