The Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Joel Ssenyonyi, is calling for the broadening of investigations into corruption to include the parliamentary Commission, which he accuses of not being transparent. He says the commission continues to sit without his participation in a clandestine manner. The Commission is chaired by the Speaker. It comprises the Prime minister, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, the Minister of Finance and four backbench members of Parliament. This comes at a time when more than 140 MPs have signed a petition that is intended to probe how four commissioners shared 1.7 billion in service awards on a person-to-holder basis. The Director of Communication at parliament Chris Obore, has denied knowledge of the recent sitting of the parliamentary commission. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition
