Kakuma refugee camp was established in 1992 to house more than 16,000 children who fled the war in Sudan. It is now one of the largest refugee camps in the world with 200,000 people living there. But for LGBTI people the camp is anything but a refuge. Insults, attacks, and beatings by the camp residents are the constant in a context of homophobia, poverty, marginalization, and lack of help from the police. Life is almost impossible.
