Pluses:
The loveliest resort we have ever been to in Asia. The hotel staff catered to every single need of ours. We had alot of requests as my husband and I were travelling with 2 small children. Amazing everything is all I can say. Right from the hotel, the hospitality, food - best breakfast buffet! and beach.
Pretty much EVERYTHING else. This resort is spectacular in so many ways.
The manager at the front desk is exceptional - I forget his name but he's Indian and he's been with Marriott for a number of years. He knows exactly how to take care of guests and make them feel welcome and informed.
The site being restored to its former university glory and the hotel being themed this way is unique and lots of fun. The hotel staff play their part well and the tour of the place is an eye opener for the attention to detail in restoring the site and making it Marriott quality.
We have a bay view room that walked out onto one of the pools - the rooms are huge and very well done, I particularly liked the USB charging ports in the room - great touch.
The French bakery is probably one of the best highlights - real french pastries and great coffee are a welcome bonus.
The gym is particularly impressive with quite a wide range of weights and equipment.
There are 3 pools, the sun keeps them at a nice temperature and they are all facing the emerald bay and white sandy beach. There are plenty of sun loungers available.
The non vegetarian food is very good especially at the pink pearl, their fine dining restaurant and the resort bar is the former chemistry lab themed in the same way.
Lastly the beach is perfect with sun loungers, beds and hammocks in ample supply.
Minuses:
Whilst there are vegetarian options available a resort of this standard could do better with their vegetarian options. A bit more creativity and thought would go a long way. The food options in these 5* calibre hotels should be on par with some of the food options available in cities like London, Singapore and New York. That being that they are not serving up the usual but more pushing the boundaries, this applies especially to vegetarian food.
