PLEASE LET HER KNOW, The Duprees Coed #591 1964
Flipside: WHERE ARE YOU- Here is another great uncharted song from my collection. The Duprees, known for their Jersey City, NJ roots began singing as The Parisians. Group members were Joey (Canzano) Vann, Joe Santollo, Mike Arnone, John Salvato and Tom Bialaglow. George Paxton, a big band leader from the 1940's and co-owner of Coed records, loved their sound so much when they auditioned for him that he decided to record them with big band arrangements and the signature sound of the Duprees was born. The rest is history...
Their first million seller, "YOU BELONG TO ME" Coed #569 charted nationally on billboard in September 1962 for 13 weeks and reached #7. It was a big hit for them. They had 8 songs charted nationally. The very first recording of "YOU BELONG TO ME" was recorded by Sue Thompson in 1952 on Mercury #6407. The song was also recorded by Joni James and Jo Stafford but their versions never charted on billboard.
Mike Arnone was a close and personal friend. He is sadly missed. R. I. P.
Enjoy this great ballad "PLEASE LET HER KNOW" by The Duprees with Joey Vann singing lead. Another example of a great song overlooked by the radio stations....
