It’s Why Pharmacy Wednesday and this we feature Shaun Christian, a P3 on our Pocatello complex. Shaun is originally from Mapleton, UT and enjoys being outdoors, playing with his dogs, cooking, fishing, hiking, watching movies and spending time with his wife.
Shaun’s older brother was a pharmacist and encouraged him to become a tech in a retail store because it paid well and it was flexible. After working in a retail setting for 4 years and talking with countless pharmacists Shaun chose to pursue a career in pharmacy because of the difference he can make in people's lives. Shaun and his brother communicate on a weekly basis bouncing ideas off each other about the field itself or other things.
An interesting fact about Shaun is that he has been to Korea. He says he really loves his class at the ISU College of Pharmacy. They have become really close and he’s made some lifelong friendships.
Shaun is currently pursuing an MBA as well as a PharmD because he’s been affected by decisions that he didn't feel were the best for the patient. He is looking into other options such as ambulatory care with an emphasis in Diabetes.
Shaun’s advice to new students or potential students is to talk to as many pharmacists as you can. Ask them questions about what they like or don't like about the field. Get more exposed to different fields so you are more prepared going forward.
We’re glad Shaun is part of our pharmily! Check out our Instagram page this Friday to learn more about him.
