The girls loved this new song they learned at school called Thelele Mama Ya. The song is inspired by the Zulu phrase “thula mama” meaning, “Don't worry Mama."
It is a song of consolation and promise.
Promise that things will be ok.
Consolation along the way.
We thought of Mary, about to give birth to the Savior of the World.
Each mother needs support and cheering as she goes about that great task of childbirth, with the promise of a new life as the reward. "Don't worry, mama. You've got this! You are strong and you are not alone."
Mary's task would produce not only her own babe, but the Hope of All Mankind.
Not only would we have sung "thula mama" to Mary, but we sing it to All. We each have a labor and a life to work through.
Christ is our Promise and our Consolation along the Way.
Adam's family used to to a benefit concert for Christmas each year, to buy Hams for the Hungry. We thought to share an option with you to donate, if you've liked our Christmas carols to you over the years, to a project that Caroline Marriott works on. The women at Dahlia's Hope need Consolation, Hope, and the Promise that things will be ok. Let's help the hands that help them!
Dahlia's hope mission statement is as follows:
"Dahlia’s Hope provides aftercare for survivors of sex trafficking. Our mission is to provide therapeutic services, medical, education, vocational training, transition into the workplace, residential support, and life skills to help these survivors function independently and successfully in society. We provide a multi-tiered approach to reach individuals in varying stages of recovery. Dahlia’s Hope also provides outpatient services."
