After his very personal tribute to Darius Danesh Campbell went viral on social media, philanthropist, business leader and Phones 4U founder John Caudwell was asked to share his memories of the late Scottish singer on BBC Breakfast.
Danesh Campbell's premature death, at the age of 41, was announced on Tuesday, taking Caudwell by shock. Darius had developed a close relationship with Caudwell's mother, serenading her in her bedroom when she was gravely ill and performing at her funeral earlier this year.
"My mother instantly fell in love with Darius," said Caudwell, who recalled that Darius "oozed kindness and consideration". "It was the emotion in his heart that was so contagious."
BBC presenters Charlie Stayt and Nina Warhurst were moved by the videos shown of Darius and Caudwell's mother together.
