The U.S. is not the only country recognizing the power of social media and big tech. Other countries like China and Russia have already demonstrated their capacity to use technology and social media to influence American systems.

It's important to recognize that everything we do to protect our national security--missile defense systems, border control, passport systems, F35s--to create asymmetries in power that keep the U.S. safe, none of it will protect us from an information bomb facilitated by white glove social media algorithms.
