New York had some of the worst indoor air pollution in the world.
Not all air pollution is as visible as an orange sky caused by wildfire smoke.
Not all air pollution occurs outdoors either - The same pollutants which can cover the sky may be seeping into your home without you knowing - and in New York's case, they did.
We analyzed air quality monitor data which showed that invisible particles or PM were polluting New Yorkers’ homes the days of and after the headline-making orange sky. The average level across all sensors was so high it was the equivalent of smoking 3 cigarettes per day.
Tldr; You should be monitoring the air you breathe.
