MADRID, SPAIN - Madrid is an absolute must try destination for anyone who loves to eat great food! From amazing tapas, to fresh seafood, and extravagant markets, Madrid has something for everyone! Today we are going on an incredible food tour in Madrid!
A massive thank you to @markwiens for inspiring multiple stops on this tour!
La Colmada (Calle del Espiritu Santo, 19) - This place is the perfect example of why you will love the food in Madrid! Fresh food served humbly on shareable plates! La Colmada really lets the fresh seasonal ingredients do the talking. A great first stop for anyone visiting Madrid, Spain!
The Markets - So, the first market we went to is called the Antón Martín Market (C. de Sta. Isabel, 5, Centro, 28012 Madrid, Spain). This is where we picked up the Produce for our picnic. It has a very localized feel to it, as if it hasn’t been nearly as discovered as the world famous Mercado de San Miguel (Pl. de San Miguel, s/n, Centro, 28005 Madrid, Spain). Even though the Mercado de San Miguel get very busy, and can be pricey, it’s DEFINITELY worth a visit! What a historical and beautiful place to share food with friends, family, and complete strangers! That’s the beauty of these markets to me. I love the hustle and bustle of a local market!
Bugao - Restaurante en Madrid (Calle de María de Molina, 4, Salamanca, 28006 Madrid, Spain) - Bugao is by no means a “hidden gem” or a hole in the wall. The restaurant is absolutely stunning, and it has been acknowledged by many of the most esteemed institutions, such as the Michelin guide. With that being said, Bugao still outperformed my expectations. The dishes were all very tastefully done, and they did a great job of upholding the integrity of the seafood they served. If you like seafood, add this to your Madrid itinerary!
Casa Amadeo Los Caracoles (Pl. de Cascorro, 18, Centro, 28005 Madrid, Spain) - Insitution. That is the word that comes to mind when I think of this establishment. Headed by Amadeo Lazáro, it’s safe to say the place is in good hands. He’s in his mid 90’s and has been running the restaurant since 1972. If you want a real feeling of Madrid, this is your place to be!
La Casa Del Abuelo (C. de la Victoria, 12, Centro, 28012 Madrid, Spain) - This was yet another restaurant that I must attribute to Mark Wiens! I watched him eat here months ago and knew I would eventually be doing the same. The garlic shrimp is truly a near perfect balance of flavor, and the house wine is a must try!
Madrid, Spain is, and will always be a culinary hotspot for travelers around the globe!
