Jim Maturen is a retired Michigan State Trooper, an avid hunter, and conservationist in Northern Michigan. In 2020, before a vaccine was available to him, Jim contracted the COVID-19 virus. Jim was hospitalized and placed on a ventilator and nearly died. After months of rehabilitation, Jim recovered, but the continued dangers of COVID-19 were not lost on him. When his doctors recommend that he get vaccinated to help protect against a reoccurrence of severe illness and hospitalization, Jim did not hesitate. Jim is grateful for the COVID-19 vaccine and the opportunity to spend more time with his family and friends.
