In our first episode of In The Drink, we shall be analysing, creating, and tasting the Old Fashioned cocktail variants which appear in the hit show Mad Men.

These Old Fashioneds are not of model quality, as we will discover in the video, and if you want to know how to make the perfect Old Fashioned cocktail, this is not that video.

Recipes:
Old Fashioned #1
- 1 sugar cube
- 4 to 8 dashes of Angostura bitters
- 1 orange wedge
- 1 maraschino cherry
- muddle
- 2oz. bourbon
- Stir over cracked ice or regular bar ice. Serve.

Old Fashioned #2
- 1 sugar cube
- 5 dashes Angostura bitters
- ~half an ice-filled glass of rye
- muddle sugar and bitters
- add half volume of sparkling water to glass of rye
- mix rye and water
- Pour rye and water mixture into the sugar and bitters, unstrained.
- Garnish with a wedge of orange.

This video was made in part as a tribute to one of my favourite television series, and to the numerous cooking and cocktail shows that got me through lockdown.
